| Innovative Architectural Design For Hospital Environments; PICU at Glendale Hospital in Leicester |
Gelder have created a ‘Healing Environment’ at the Glendale PICU for patients and staff by using evidence based design, integrating a colour scheme for the ward with existing finishes.
Specially commissioned ceiling tiles with screen-printed blue-sky designs featuring hot air balloons, kites and planes have been installed. The tiles have excellent sound absorption properties and are coated with a BIO Guard finish that inhibits the growth of mould. Backlit images and printed tiles have enhanced areas of the PICU that have little natural light.
Gelder and Kitchen are proud to add the Paediatric ICU of Glendale Hospital to their portfolio
The project at Glendale has illustrated that sharp-edged clinical environments in hospitals can be transformed with innovative architectural design.
